Due process
I never could have hated you
Circumstances being what they were
Could not have been avoided
With my back against the wall I fall into cause and effect
Neglecting to step outside myself
For just a moment to gather myself
To perceive that other than self
Was beyond me I fear
It should have been you
He showed up unexpectedly
It should have been you
My heart dropped when I realized the truth
I wanted it to be you that showed up at my door
And though I had made plans to explore
My plans were to be put on hold
I entertained his company while wishing it was you
I went to sleep and dreamt wild dreams of you
Living vicariously
I asked,”Should I do it?”
To which she replied, “Yes, because I haven’t had the opportunity.”
