I had to blink twice

I could not believe my eyes

When they came to rest on such a beautiful thing

Dazzling, stunning,

Breathtaking…

A dream in the making

Sublime and true

Yet it is of this Earth

… and inside of you

It’s the dregs…

If you did not know

It’s the lowest of the low

When the table is upturned and all cards come tumbling down

Like pieces of the mind, shattered, unraveling, and unbound

To make additional space

To clear a clean slate

To mayhap become an unstable foundation

From which to build some semblance of sanity once again

Unhealthy distractions

I extract them and toss them away

Out of sight and out of mind.. they say

I can testify to its truth

Actively protecting the sanctuary

Of my mind, heart, and soul

No miseries to console

I am already good

In a frenzy

Consuming seemingly endlessly

Yet the passion at it’s pinnacle

Can only uphold for so long it’s peak

Making the transition in the downward spiral

So bleak

No legitimate substance to fall back on

No choice but to move on

To find another source

That may extract the diamond in the rough

That exhilarating feeling I love so much
